Grade 2 CP Titanium Sheet Blanks

Grade 2 commercially pure titanium sheet blanks are the most widely used titanium product in the chemical processing, marine, and medical industries. Grade 2 is the workhorse of the four commercially pure titanium grades, offering the best balance between strength, formability, and corrosion resistance. With a minimum tensile strength of 50,000 psi and minimum yield strength of 40,000 psi in the annealed condition, Grade 2 CP titanium provides moderate structural capability at just 57% of the density of steel. Corrosion resistance is the primary reason engineers specify Grade 2 titanium over cheaper alternatives. The alloy forms a tenacious, self-healing titanium dioxide passive layer that resists attack from chloride solutions, seawater, wet chlorine gas, oxidizing acids, and many organic chemicals that rapidly degrade stainless steels. This makes Grade 2 sheet the standard construction material for heat exchangers, reaction vessels, piping, and valve trim in chlor-alkali plants and desalination facilities. Grade 2 titanium sheet offers good formability in the annealed condition, with 20% minimum elongation allowing brake forming, hydroforming, and moderate draw operations. Springback is more pronounced than with steel or aluminum, typically requiring 2-4 degrees of overbend compensation. The alloy is fully biocompatible per ASTM F67, making it the standard material for medical device housings, dental implant abutments, and surgical instrument components. Grade 2 titanium welds cleanly with TIG using argon shielding and matching Grade 2 filler wire. Our sheet blanks are sheared from certified ASTM B265 mill stock in thicknesses from 0.016 inches through 0.187 inches.
