7075-T6 Aluminum Plate Blanks

7075-T651 aluminum plate blanks are the premier choice for CNC machining of high-strength aerospace and defense components from thick stock. The T651 temper designation indicates the plate has been solution heat treated, stress relieved by controlled stretching (1-3% permanent set), and artificially aged. The stress relief step is critical for plate products because it minimizes internal residual stresses that would otherwise cause warping and distortion during machining. With tensile strength of 83,000 psi and yield strength of 73,000 psi, 7075-T651 plate provides structural performance approaching that of many steels at 2.81 g/cm³ density. This makes it the material of choice for machined-from-solid aerospace parts such as wing ribs, fuselage frames, bulkheads, and landing gear components. The defense sector uses 7075 plate extensively for armored vehicle components, weapon system housings, and tactical equipment. 7075-T651 plate machines exceptionally well on CNC mills. The combination of high hardness and the stress-relieved condition produces predictable chip formation, excellent surface finish, and dimensional stability through multi-setup machining operations.
